Nom-Con Wants YOU!

In the last weekend of August 2010 (27th - 29th) Nom-con will be unleashed upon an unsuspecting Dublin. But a great Con can only be as good as its Staff and thats where you guys can come in, We're looking for Staff. If you would like to work at the con (It actually looks great on a cv with all that teamwork) Just Post here and Ill get your Details Via a pm (Dont post em on the public board). Don't worry about not getting any Convention time, when we have enough Staff it'll be easy to rotate so everyone will get a chance to buy merch, watch anime screenings etc. etc.

Alright,

I'm provisionally up for it. I've been staff on Eirtakon for a long time... so I have some experience I can bring to the con, handling events like signings and stuff. I can try and offer input

I am somewhat uncertain though.... because tbh, I don't know too many of the names involved yet. I don't know how well we'll get along together when it actually comes down to working it. We might end up fighting and arguing all weekend, and I don't want to do that.

There're a couple of things. I really think nom-con should do it's best to attract people who've staffed a con before. If you guys get a core of people who've 'done it before', then it'll really benefit the event. I really would like to see this con come off well, because 2 cons can only be good for Ireland. Eirtakon staff, maybe from some of the gamer cons.... it'll really have a benefit.

One more thing.... staff will be coming from pretty far away. I know if I'm to get to Ballsbridge, I'll be taking a Train out, which although convenient because I live near a train station, it's also a pretty long journey timewise (especially on a weekend timetable). Will the con be providing for accommodation of any staff, or will we have to sort ourselves out?

I won't be able to make start times on Saturday or Sunday if I don't stay overnight.

Well I know a few con people from the U.S. and what they do is get a room for like 4 people and share it, as long as the people are cool it be easy. Plus I live about a half hour train ride from ballsbrige I think but sundays will be a problem.

Well we will be looking for veteran staff of Eirtakon, many of who I've worked with before. ^^ Also we might try organise some kind of social event just for staffers leading up to the con so you can all get to know each other and be merry like

We have gotten some nice discounts on rooms for the con-goers and we do hope to offer staffers some extra discounts so staying in the hotel will be easy and not too expensive. Also there will be some other freebies for staff but we'll announce that when things have been nailed down =)

Many of you will actually know Beastrune He cosplayed as Al from FMA for Eirtakon 07 mk1 and won the cosplay competition that year. This year he was cosplaying as Barry Burton from Resident Evil during this weekend. Also known as Koshi in many places and he's currently the president of the anime soc in AIDT which he set up last year =)

Ahh yea I met that guy yesterday and it is a pretty good idea to meet up and get to know each other first maybe even try to run a night out or an anime showing to see how we work together or something.

I think I recognise the name alright. Unfortunately, I was usually elsewhere when the cosplay was happening. We might've talked in the past though. Well, either way, the whole reason I staff is because I'm able to meet people I wouldn't normally seek out. I meet a lot of nice people every year.

It'll also give me an excuse to do the ADP thing I've gotten on my mind. A goal time to get it done by before I really need to have it done

Thanks for the Endorsement Nate ^^ Well Dartz If youve been Staff for alot of the Eirtakons We've probably met Alot The Staff seem to know me from sight at this point ^^ Im sure we can all get along without any problems, the meet up though would be a fantastic idea though, Iron out all the rough edges and such. Oh and Nate its IADT ^^

Hmm well doin something Japanese is usually the norm for these thins but Karaoke you all might go deaf. Hmm some sort of partie me thinks or a giant town meet up.

As for the discounts I will still somehow spend all my money haha.
